And so it begins – Stratford and the visit that got me started. The weather was bad, and this place was dreadful, but the RSC across the river was just as great view as I had hoped it would be. Like any good tourist, I snapped my photos and mady my exist filled with dizzying sense of bewilderment.
The birth house in the town centre. Only slightly less depressing…
…than Anne Hathaway’s cottage and its “courting bench” on which Shakespeare used to sit before he knocked her up and was forced to marry her.
The room Shakespeare was born in, and the floor he walked on.
I did love Phillip Sutton’s colourful 1988 portrait of Shakespeare though.
